The Burgundy and Macaroon Collections

Heyy Squiggletowners!
It has definitely been awhile. Unfortunately I have been so busy with work, that any breaks I have, I am only able to work on these batches of Jade Bookmarks (hope you guys aren't tired hearing about it). So I made another two collections this week as per a special order.

The 20 bookmarks will probably be the sixth collection I've done so far. The last post I made I talked about how the design has been constantly evolving. This collection is no different. I was very influenced by the current fall trends of oxblood / burgundy shades with jewelled tones and soft blush / pastel, dusty shades. Thus, the two collections - The Burgundy Collection and The Macaroon Collection.

Here's the introduction on the tags for each collection, which preludes a more detailed description of what makes up each unique bookmark:

The Burgundy Collection
This collection is all about jewelled tones, gems, shades of burgundy, teal, hunter green and purple.

The Macaroon Collection
This collection is all about soft pastels, cream, seafoam, dusty rose and sunshine.

The new collection also features a new bookmark hook (that is ironically without a hook) from Korea. I quite like the dreamy, almost cloud shaped pattern on the hook.

I have been dreaming and sketching new ideas, thinking of making more items, maybe along the lines of a more festive tone. Hopefully the next post will not be too long away. Thanks for reading! (:

Jade Bookmarks

Heyy everyone,

I know it's been quite a long time. Been making batches of these Jade Bookmarks that are inspired by a mix of Korean and Chinese culture. These bookmarks have been constantly evolving in terms of their design.


The first batch I made, I tried to go along with the simplistic feel of string and beads, but I thought it lacked some glitter. I also wanted to stick with the "original" materials of jade, semi-precious stones, pearls and porcelain. But again, it lacked something. So along the way, I added some Swarovski crystals, then moved from the usual green donut pieces to yellow jade, purple jade and even to this molted green red yellow cream jade.

I love the mix of colours and if you look closely enough, there seems to be a shimmer in the sunlight. It is really pretty. Did I mention that mint turquoise seafoam greenish-blue is kind of my favourite colour? (:

dinosaur collection update!

i wanted to take all the shots at the playground, but i ran out of time. so i took them against a banana tree instead, gave it a more Jurassic feel, i think. (:

pearls + pride & prejudice

heyy all!
been rather busy lately, what with graduation and starting work and all. anyhoo, i've been reading jane austen (pride and prejudice) and i just fell in love with that whole era again. san even rented the movie and i bought one of the many sequels to read. (: so anyways, i've got some bookmarks and earrings to upload in the etsy shop. shall endeavour to finish by today.

meanwhile, here are some pearl earrings i helped my mom restring - changed the findings and added some swarovski and flowers (: enjoy!

made this spool rack after reading a blog post about using pencils to form a spool rack. (: and in the background i cut brontosaurus shapes from woodgrain sticker sheets to embellish my sewing machine.

also. was clearing my wardrobe the other day and found some shirts i didn't really wear and were too small. so i decided to make pouches out of them. the first is a purple rhinestone embellished shirt from uk and the second is an a&f shirt. i really like the idea, might be making more soon.

i also made more pouches which are for sale on etsy. so go see! (:

i've finally uploaded items at etsy! you'll need an etsy account to purchase items; joining etsy is free. local orders you can pay by either paypal or bank transfer. squiggletown also has a facebook group! squiggletown is refurbishing!

i'm going to be clearing lots of old squiggletown stock and will be donating it to a school fundraiser. (: i haven't decided if i'm going to still use blogger to update stock or finally move over to etsy. i've considered using both blogger and etsy, but its too messy for me to keep track. :( so yea, might use either. will update again! (:

prototypes & a custom order

been experimenting with some different designs for new squiggletown pouches. these are the prototypes :)
and made this for liz. red polka dot (cloth from US, made in japan) pencil case, double-lined (linen lining) with custom butterfly charms in shades of pink and red.

for the boys...

made this cushion cover for andrew. it was going to be a laptop case but was too small. so yea. :p

made this ds pouch for my brother. he chose the fabric himself! the fitting is slightly tight, thats the problem with sewing with batting. battings makes measurements all out of wonk. and i didn't want the pouch to be too lose. so yea.

120709 "boy" pouches update!

heyy all!

i've decided to do a series of "boy" pouches. as in the colour scheme will be more guy centric. there'll be lots of stripes and camouflage print! (: uploads will be on sunday!

[duffel] updates!

i've finally finally gotten a new sewing machine! (: been waiting quite a while to get one, and turns out the one i liked was twice my budget. ): i got it anyways, so will be making sure that i use it regularly to make it worthwhile (like altering my jeans...hmm...) i was trying to pick out a name for it, and it so happens today's word of the day on dictionary.com is "doughty". it means brave, firm, gusty...kinda like how it was yesterday - sewing through layers of batting and fabric. haha. so doughty (pronounced dou-tee) it is. (:

so last night and yesterday i was sewing away. i attempted to make a laptop case for andrew, but it turned out too small, so andrew suggested converting it into a cushion case instead! i'll have to get him to take a picture of it for me. anyhoo, the new sewing machine could sew through mesh types of fabrics. so i sewed this ^ for myself. decided it needed a little glitz, so the zipper has rhinestones on it. (: and while at it, i made two small pouches. one will come with a free mesh pouch! uploads as usual on sunday 12.00am! so check the duffel section tmr!

p/s: i altered some mini leather notebooks for my mom the other day.
